In March 2013, Bob Newman suffered an accident that left him in a coma for two weeks. He now faces enormous medical bills.
Formerly design director of New York, Real Simple,Vibe, The Village Voice, Details and Entertainment Weekly, as well as an expert in magazine history, Bob has touched the lives of many prominent editors and designers in the USA and the UK.
I decided to create something to help Bob – and to celebrate him. I sent emails far and wide to create My Favo(u)rite Magazine, a very special publication about magazines to raise money for his recovery.
An incredible list of people around the world participated in the project, including creative directors at the
New York Times Magazine, Pentagram,
Wired,
Elle,
Harper’s Bazaar,
Bloomberg Businessweek,
The Observer, AOL, as well as students and young creatives.
The magazine has so far raised more than $13,000. All proceeds go to Bob and his family.
